Product Information
Permatex® Form-A-Gasket® No. 1 Sealant (P/N 80008 / 1BR) is a fast-drying, hard-setting gasket sealant formulated for sealing rigid mechanical assemblies exposed to pressure, temperature variation, and industrial fluids. The sealant is supplied as a reddish-brown viscous paste that cures through solvent evaporation to form a hard, semi-flexible sealing film that improves gasket reliability and prevents fluid leakage.
This gasket dressing is designed for permanent or semi-permanent sealing applications where components require a durable bond and resistance to mechanical movement. Once cured, the sealant forms a strong sealing layer capable of maintaining integrity in high-pressure assemblies and rigid mechanical connections.
Permatex Form-A-Gasket No.1 is commonly used for automotive, industrial, and mechanical equipment assembly, including sealing freeze plugs, threaded fittings, manifold gaskets, air ducts, boilers, and pipe connections. The compound fills microscopic surface irregularities between mating components to improve gasket sealing performance and extend gasket service life.
The fast-drying formulation allows assemblies to become operational in approximately 2 hours, while full cure is typically achieved after 24 hours, depending on environmental conditions. Once cured, the sealant maintains resistance to a range of industrial fluids including motor oil, gasoline, transmission fluid, ethylene glycol coolant, water, and marine environments.
Permatex Form-A-Gasket No.1 Sealant is widely used by automotive technicians, engine rebuilders, HVAC technicians, maintenance engineers, and industrial equipment manufacturers requiring a reliable hard-setting gasket sealant for permanent sealing applications.
